  5. Test Day • Must have photo ID to take test. • Must leave all personal items in a locker. • Dress comfortably. • Testing room is constantly monitored and may be video taped. • May take a bathroom break. • A marker and dry erase board is available.

  6. The Exam Structure • 175 Questions (25 tested for future exams) • 3 hour time limit • Best answer format • Must think like SHRM (not the company you work for)

  7. Test Taking Tips • Trust your first answer. • Try to answer the question before you read the answers on the test. • There is no pattern to the test (like choosing “c” when in doubt). • Eliminate the obvious wrong answers. • You can always mark a question and return to answer it at the end. • Don’t get hung up on a question – mark it and keep going through the other questions.

  8. Passing the Exam • A standards-setting panel determines the passing score • Passing Score • Immediate preliminary score; official results a few weeks later

  9. Acknowledging Newly Certified • Please let us know your preliminary results via email to: • Acknowledge your accomplishment • LHRMA meeting • LJS newspaper • Letter to supervisor if desired • Keep stats on the pass rate and success of our on-going study group.

  11. Course Evaluations • Were handed out at the first session. • Give your honest evaluation of the session and instructor • Feedback used to continue to improve the study group

  12. Individual Post-Test • Re-take the pre-test to measure your knowledge gains. • Another test will be made available on the LHRMA website to help you study. • Right before your exam you should be scoring 90% on practice exams.
