Schedule • PE-Monday and Thursday 11:40-12:10 • Spanish-Wednesday and Thursday 10:50-11:20 • Library-Tuesday 10:50-11:30 or 11:30-12:10 • Computer-Wednesday 8:30-9:10 or 9:10-9:50 • Music-Tuesday and Thursday 2:30-3:10
Discipline • Students will be given 100 points per week. Each time they have to write their name on the board they lose 10 points. If they receive a check by their name they will lose an additional 20 points. They must have above 95% to receive an Outstanding Christian Conduct Award.
Powergrade • Please check Powergrade periodically during the quarter. If you see an error in entering the grade please email me so I am able to get it fixed. The log in and password are the same as last year, if you don’t remember you child’s, please contact Mrs. Bennett in the office.
Homework • Homework will be assigned daily. Students are responsible for getting the work written in their assignment book and getting the homework to and from school. Students will not be calling home to have the Homework Fairy drop it by. If assignments are not at their desk when its time to turn it in it will be considered late and will receive a 10 point deduction the next day when it is turned in. Any homework later than one day will not be accepted!
Classwork • Most assignments given during class will be due the following day. Students who are unable to finish the assignment during class will be allowed to take it home and turn it in the following day without it being considered late. Work that is not brought back finished the following day will be completed at recess. All late work will receive a 10 point deduction.
Absent Work • Students who are absent due to illness will be given two days to make up the work. If you or a sibling are able to pick up the work the day they missed it, that is sometimes helpful-I will do my best to make sure it is ready for pickup after school.
Vacation Work • If you are going on a vacation, in accordance with school policy, I may be able to give some of the assignment in advance. Please contact me. Some work will not be given in advance and it may be necessary to make it up upon return. Since we will be learning about regions of the United States this year, a post card with a major attraction or landscape would be nice when you get back.
Volunteer Opportunities • Monday mornings 8:30-10:30 8:30-9:00 clerical 9:00-10:30 reading group supervision • Thursday mornings 8:30-10:30 same routine as Monday • Fridays (dates to be announced) Science centers 10:30-12:00 first one September 17
More Volunteer Opportunities • Field trip September 20 (all day, if the weather is nice) We will be going to Antelope Island and spending the day doing science experiments with a naturalist. Just think of how much fun it will be to wade around in the salt water, not to mention the bus ride! • Mass (Friday 9:00) Any Friday we’re having Mass you are welcome to come and sit with your child-or someone else’s.
Still More Volunteer Opportunities • If you have some hidden talent you’d be willing to share (within reason) please let me know and we’ll work something out.
Room Parent • This could be your year to be in charge of all the great parties (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine Day and end of the year). • You can pick the class auction basket theme and assemble it (How much fun can you take?). • You don’t have to worry about an auction project.
Birthdays • Each child may have free dress on their birthday. If their birthday is in the summer they may have free dress on their half birthday. Weekenders may have free dress either Monday after the big day or Friday before it. If you want to send in treats to celebrate, please consult the school handbook and remember nothing says, “Happy Birthday” to a 10 year old like a piece of asparagus!
