Underwriters Laboratories Inc. • Since 1894 UL’s mission has been the protection of human life and property from product risks and hazards. • UL is an independent, not-for-profit product safety testing and certification organization. • UL evaluates tens of thousands of products, components, materials, and systems for compliance to specific requirements, and enables manufacturers and the public to benefit from products that meet standardized safety requirements. • In 2005, an estimated 20 billion products entering the global marketplace carried the UL Mark. • The UL Mark is one of the most recognized, accepted and trusted safety certification marks in the world.
Anti-Counterfeiting Operations • Products bearing counterfeit UL Certification Marks were first found about a decade ago. UL immediately responded by developing a comprehensive Anti-Counterfeiting Program. • The primary mission of UL's anti-counterfeiting program is to protect the safety of consumers around the world from the hazards of products bearing counterfeit UL certification marks. • UL has a zero tolerance policy for counterfeit goods and does not consent to the import, export, or manipulation of seized merchandise carrying a counterfeit UL Mark. • UL takes all available legal remedies to prevent products bearing counterfeit UL Marks from entering the stream of commerce.
