  3. Why They Hate Us • Islamic Extremists hate the “West”.

  4. Culture Thousands of years of hatred mingled with religion, nationalism and geopolitics. You will never understand what motivates a terrorist if you try to rationalize their beliefs through Western ideals. Western Eyes

  5. Blame Game • Wealth, Oil, First Gulf War, Saddam Hussein, Colonialsim, Jesus Christ, Israel. • We are involved in an “Islamic Cold War” between Saudi Arabia and Iran. • Everyone including Muslims are caught in the middle. • It is a “generational war” • It is a “world war”

  6. The West is • Arrogant • Insensitivity toward other cultures. • The West, and America is the Big Brother of the West, is trying to dominate the globe. • Western nations are trying to turn Islamic countries into Arab Democracies.

  7. Favoritism Toward Israel • Read your Bible! Genesis Chap. 16 (Hagar and Ishmael). The Jewish people have been hated for thousands of years and persecuted in nearly every country. • 1948, U.S. (President Truman) officially recognized the State of Israel. The “line in the sand” was drawn separating U.S. from Middle Eastern Arab countries. • There are 5 million Jews living in the U.S. and 5 million living in Israel.

  8. Wealth, Economic and Military Power • Americans have a lot and are stingy. They don’t “share enough”. • Housing and world-wide banking collapse that Americans are blamed for. • Military: We are bad to the bone.

  9. Disgust Over Lax Morals • Islamic extremists like to paint the picture as though what someone see about America via Hollywood is true of mainstream America. • Porn, a Billion dollar business.

  10. Economic Sanctions • U.S. sanctions throughout the decades against Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Iran are viewed as unjustified.

  11. Lengthy Stay of Troops in Middle East (Saudi Arabia) • U.S. Forces have had a strong and continuous posture and presence in the Middle East, 30 years prior to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and since Saddam’s troops were thrown out.

  12. Support of Repressive, Corrupt Regimes Due to Western Greed • Oil • The U.S. supports Saudi Arabia militarily, economically and politically because we need the oil. • We chose to back the Saudi Royal family and the Islamic “hard-liners” within Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, Afghanistan do not like it.

  13. Culture of Hatred Imagine if you spent your entire life poor, destitute, and listening to those who are influential tell you everyday that America is the reason why your life sucks. “Death to America, Death to Israel” You see the American flag burned in the street.

  14. Cultural of Hatred When your child tells his/her class that their only desire when they grow up is to die as a suicide bomber their teacher and classmates praise them. As your children walk home from school, they pass a large assembly outdoors with thousands of young men with raised AK-47s, chanting “Death to America and Israel”

  15. Culture of Hatred The clerics, religious leaders continuously imprint their warped version of the Qur’an into the heads of their followers, the “Sword Verse” taking you from a literary to literal meaning.

Sword Verse (9:5) And when the forbidden months have passed, slay the Idolaters wherever you find them and take them captive, and beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent and observe Prayer and pay the Zakaat, then leave their way free. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Merciful.

Summary • What is illogical to us, based on our culture and belief system, is completely logical to them given theirs. • There is an Islamic Cold War waging between Saudi Arabia and Iran. • America is viewed as the leader of the West and, protector of Israel and is supportive of oppressive Muslim regimes. • The culture of hatred runs deep. • Children are indoctrinated now to fight this war decades from now.

  19. Terrorist Intent • Today’s extreme Islamist groups such as al-Qaida do not merely seek political revolution in their own countries. They aspire to dominate all countries. Their goal is a totalitarian, theocratic empire to be achieved by waging perpetual war on soldiers and civilians alike.
