Signs and symptoms • May begin symptoms at young age and continue into adulthood. • Inattention • Hyperactive • Impulsivity *Adults tend to be restlessness instead of hyperactive.
Causes of the disorder • Hereditary • Brain Functioning - frontal lobe and the cerebellum play a significant role in ADHD because they are those ones who deal with complex thinking • Injury to the brain, stokes or disease
Types of therapy • Stimulant drugs: Metadata, Ritalin or Adderall • Strattera or Intuniv for younger children Many teenagers have extra help in middle or high school to make them stay on top of their work • Exercise for adults eases stress and anxiety
6 questions • Maladaptive: ADHD definitely gets in the way of a normal day especially in school at work at home or even in relationships. • Irrational: logical, inappropriate at times • Example: Not paying attention in school or doing what your asked to do. • Observer Discomfort: it can bother other people especially parents with young children who are hyperactive or a teacher in school when their student aren’t paying attention
6 questions cont. • Unpredictable: Yes it is consistent if the patient doesn’t take the pills on a daily basis. • Distress: It can be very bother some to the person • Unconventional: No it’s not very odd, actually quite common.
