  3. Early life • Was raised a Quaker • Taught himself guitar when he was 9 • Returned to S. Africa to go to high school and moved back • He became a bartender where me met local musicians and decided to form a band

Dave Matthews Band • The rock band Formed in VA early 90’s with 4 original members • ‘10 Carter Beauford (rolling stones 10th best drummer of all time) • Music has influences of jazz, rock, and folk • Became popular with college age people • Song from first album “Satellite” 1993 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAamgBPebsk
