Shakespeare's Theatre The Globe • Constructed in 1599 by The Lord Chamberlain’s Men • Three stories high with no roof • Consisted of an outer stage with no front or side curtains, an inner stage, a cellar, and a tiring-house • Very few props and very little scenery • Elaborate and expensive costumes
The Globe was rebuilt again in London only 200 meters from its original site. • Inaugurated by the Queen on June 12, 1997 • Used traditional building materials and techniques
Shakespeare's Achievements • A part of The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, later renamed The King’s Men by King James I • An actor, playwright, and poet • Wrote 154 poems and 37 plays • His work has been translated into every major language. • Most quoted literature
