  2. 2010 Outlook – Global Recession is Over • Very gradual turnaround in worldwide intermodal trade • U.S. market will lag behind other markets (particularly Asia) • U.S. imports will remain depressed, expect to be slightly above 2009 levels • U.S. exports will improve moderately • Strengthening growth into 2011-12

  3. Huge Imbalance b/t Containership Supply & Demand

  4. U.S. Chassis Supply • Total U.S. Chassis Fleet – 825,000 (approx. 50% leased) • Declined in 2009 by 35,000 (or 4.2 %) • Scrapping & export sales • Virtually no new building

  5. Chassis Demand - Domestic • Domestic container traffic declined 16.8% in 2009 (-4.2% in 2008) • September 2009 – 7.3 million moves in 2008

  6. Chassis Demand – International Containers • 2008 – Import container traffic declined 8.2% to 17 million • Overall traffic declined by 712,000 TEU’s, with a total of 28.3 million containers moved • 2008 – Export containers totaled 11.3 million containers, expected drop to the 10 million range (11.3%)
