General SDO/Fora Work Items for further consideration • IMS Emergency Services • CT Rel-7 System enhancements for fixed broadband access to IMS (FBI) • LTE interworking criteria • GAN enhancements TR43.902 V1.1.0 • 3GPP, 3GPP2 and WiMAX interworking scenario’s • SA 3 and TISPAN WG7 study of authentication protocols and methods • QoS provisioning over 3GPP/WLAN interworking Stage 2 • WiFi Access Point Interoperability • Dual-mode WiFi/Cellular handset power limitations • ITU-T vs IEEE • Provider Backbone Bridge Traffic Engineering PBB-TE 802.1, 802.1ah, 802.1ag, IEEE 1588, ITU-T Y.1731, IETF T-MPLS, etc • Authentication protocols: EAP-SIM, EAP-TTLS, EAP-TTS, EAP-AKA, etc • Access authentication vs IMS authentication
Long Range Technology and Standards Strategy • An IP-based core network for all services, using an enhanced form of MPLS to provide ‘connections’ and therefore an acceptable QoS for real-time services. • SIP as the protocol of choice for establishment of call based sessions (e.g. VoIP, multimedia, etc.) and including presence management • A Mobility architecture based on 3GPP with extensions for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, broadband access, etc. This will mean that there will be little distinction between fixed and mobile networks within 5-10 years. • An access network converging on a DSL-based Multi-Service Access Node (MSAN) • The use of deep fibre, including fibre to the node and fibre to the premises, to extend broadband reach and bandwidth capability. • Open APIs that will allow 3rd party applications providers to provide services over our T-IMS network • A common intelligence layer controlling all services including voice, IPTV and data services. • A standards-based home gateway providing seamless access from wide area networks to home networking services. • OSS based on a common set of components for all services (not stovepipe solutions); and using directories, middleware and B2B Gateway technologies to provide communication between these Top Level Technology and Standards Choices
Services/Applications which rely on requirements provided by the technology domains • Real Time (Voice & Multimedia) Services • Mobility (Converged) Services • GRID (Next Generation Grid) Services • IPTV Services • Ubiquitous (RFID) Services
Technology Platform Requirements • User Environment • Access • Core & Backhaul • IT Resources (Computing & Storage) • Service Execution Framework • Systems & Network Management (OSS)
Horizontal Requirements • Spectrum • QoS for Real-Time Services • Security • Lawful Interception • Naming, Numbering & Addressing • Interconnect
Standards Requirements • Strategic importance of Service Requirements, Systems Architecture, Protocol Compliance and Interoperability Testing: TISPAN 3GPP Common IMS • The 3GPP-type phased release approach is preferred in order to keep interworking problems to a minimum • Ensure that work which has been accepted in ETSI can also be accepted in ITU • Need to identify what network-to-network interfaces are required for Interconnect: TISPAN and IPsphere Forum
