Purpose/Aims • Support you and develop our partnership to implementing Scotland’s new National Qualifications from August 2013 • Product Codes/Course Assessment Component Information • Key operational processes and mechanisms to support data collection, processing and completeness • Adherence to key operational dates for data exchange • Changes to key processes/timelines • Feedback and Questions
Product Codes • Product codes for new National Courses at National 1 – National 5 already released to support timetabling for session 2013/14 • SQA will accept entries for the new National Qualifications from w/c 23 September 2013 – not before! • New codes series begins C700. Level codes are 71-77 to allow quick, visual identification of the new courses and to differentiate these from existing National Courses • Reference and Approval file updates were issued in August 2013

Submitting Data Accurately and On Time • Entries • Providing accurate entry information on Course, units and where appropriate external assessments - level and completion dates must be specified • Existing report to support and help you identify outstanding data • Incomplete National Course Profiles - unit entries not • submitted (Eligibility Report) • New report introduced to support you during the transition period • Entries Summary Profile Report - no. of candidates per subject/level
How it will work Step 1 Centre Submission of initial entries by 31st January • Majority of entries • should be submitted • by 31st January • SQA shall send out a • an updated Entries • Summary Profile Report • in early April for further • information but requires • no confirmation Step 2 SQA Provide Centre with Entries Summary Profile Report Beg February Step 3 Centre Review report for accuracy and confirm to SQA by end of February Step 4 SQA Obtain sign off from each Centre
Submitting Data Accurately and On Time • 23rd September - Candidate Entry process opens • 31st January - Closing date for initial entry information • Beg February - Centres receive Eligibility Report and review/take action update candidate data • Beg February - Centres receive and sign off Entries Summary Profile Report • Beginning of April - Centres receive updated Entries Summary Profile Report for information only Key Dates for Entries
Submitting Data Accurately and On Time • Estimates • Accurate estimate information is required for each entry - you should submit an estimate grade • Valid Bands 1-9 inclusive of National 5 • Estimates will support the Exceptional Circumstances Consideration Process • Deadline submission date - 28th April
Submitting Data Accurately and On Time • Unit Results • Accurate result information is required for each unit entry • Unit results should be submitted continually to ensure a regular flow of data • Existing report to support and help you identify and resolve any missing data • Incomplete National Course Profiles - unit results not submitted(Eligibility Report) • New report introduced for HOC • Eligibility Report - no. of candidates per subject/level who will not achieve an overall course award • April/June/August • Deadline submission date – 2nd June
