  2. Question 4- Fusion Artists, craftspeople and designers are sometimes inspired by the fusion of art forms. Contemporary artist Pierre Huyghecreates work that combines film, sculpture, sound and the still image. Robert Rauschenberg combined painted, printed and sculptural forms in his work. The architect David Chipperfieldfused old and new elements in the ‘Neues Museum’, Berlin.

  4. ‘Contemporary artist Pierre Huyghecreates work that combines film, sculpture, sound and the still image.’ Pierre Huyghe • Employing folly, leisure, adventure, and celebration in creating art, Huyghe’s films, installations, and public events range from a small-town parade to a puppet theater, from a model amusement park to an expedition to Antarctica. By filming staged scenarios (such as a re-creation of the true-life bank robbery featured in the movie, "Dog Day Afternoon"), Huyghe probes the capacity of cinema to distort and ultimately shape memory....

  5. ‘Robert Rauschenberg combined painted, printed and sculptural forms in his work.’ RobertRaushenberg • Rauschenberg’s enthusiasm for popular culture and his rejection of the angst and seriousness of the Abstract Expressionists led him to search for a new way of painting. • One of Rauschenberg’s first and most famous combines was entitled “Monogram” (1959) and consisted of an unlikely set of materials: a stuffed angora goat, a tire, a police barrier, the heel of a shoe, a tennis ball, and paint. This pioneering altered the course of modern art.

  6. ‘The architect David Chipperfieldfused old and new elements in the ‘Neues Museum’, Berlin.’ DavidChipperfield • David Chipperfield Architects won the international competition for the rebuilding of the Neues Museum in collaboration with Julian Harrap.  The design focused on repairing and restoring the original volume, respecting the historical structure.  Both the restoration and repair of the existing is driven by the idea that the original structure should be emphasized in its spatial context and original materiality – the new reflects the lost without imitating it.
