  2. Drafting • Competitors are not permitted to draft behind any other competitor or motor vehicle. • Drafting gives you an unfair advantage. • A fellow competitor’s draft zone is 3 meters wide by 7 meters long. A vehicle draft zone is 5 meters wide and 35 meters long. • You may enter the draft zone for 15 seconds but you have to be seen to be progressing through the zone i.e. not just sitting on someone’s wheel for 15 seconds and dropping back. • If you cannot over take in 15 seconds you must drop back out of the draft zone. • The draft zone of one competitor cannot overlap with the draft zone of another competitor. • The only circumstances you will not be penalized for entering the draft zone are: for safety reasons, at an aid station, on the exit or entrance to the transition area, at an acute turn, if a section of the course has been excluded by race officials due to narrow road, road works etc. • When a competitor has been passed by another competitor it is his/her responsibility to drop back out of the draft zone. You have been passed when the front wheel of the overtaking competitor is ahead of yours. • Side by side riding is only allowed on courses fully closed to traffic. On open and semi-open course you can only ride single file. • In events that are draft legal you must familiarize yourself with the ITU rules on drafting. • In the interest of health and safety you will not give warning for a draft violation until after the event when the time penalties are posted in the finish area. • You will receive a 2 minute time penalty for your first draft violation and be disqualified after your second. • The race referees decision is final!!!
