Our General Plan Smart Growth objectives: reuse of existing buildings, revitalizing our historic downtown and neighborhoods, protecting our unique “sense of place,” and ensuring the proper treatment of historic resources Policy 9D Ensure proper treatment of archeological and historic resources Action 9.16 Pursue funding to preserve historic resources

  3. CLG Benefits • Compete for Historic Preservation Fund Grants • Funds this year = $1,304.638. • The State received 15 grant applications selected nine local governments to receive grants totaling $209,300 • Grant monies may fund historic surveys

  4. CLG Requirements • Enforce appropriate state and local laws and regulations …that protects historic properties; • Establish an HPC; • Maintain survey and inventory of historic properties; • Provide for public participation in preservation program; • Perform responsibilities delegated to it by the state.

  5. Staff Recommendation 1.Adopt a resolution authorizing the City to file an application under the Certified Local Government Program. 2. Authorize the City to submit all documents within the scope of the application for certification.
