  3. Noise in the ED • Nurses Station • Equipment • Design • One Long Hall • Doors • Staff talking with Patients and amongst themselves • Traffic of patients • Nurses had to repeat themselves (not heard over the noise)

  4. What Kinds of Noise? • Beeps • Phone Ringing • Courtesy phones • Bangs • Clicking of Heels • 4 conversations at once

  5. Wayfinding • Back up near the parking area • Signage in hallways unclear • Non escorted trips • Family wayfinding

  6. Triage • Nurse at Registration • Pre-Registration (Quick Reg) • Setup for taking vital signs upon arrival • Information is placed into the Information System at that time. • Process is quite lengthy (15mins per patient) • Full registration later
