Sin and Death What is death? The wages sin pays Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Wages: rations for a soldier, i.e. his stipend or pay: - wages. The fruit; the child or the seed of sin • James 1:15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.
