  2. The decision process – why do we do things? • No matter where we are our life is decided by decision makers • How, what, where and when and more importantly who makes those decisions? • Historically social structures have been the key influence. Local politics, businesses would represent the supposed needs of communities

  3. Who would benefit for data management initiatives? • Communities – real issues addressed, assist in reduction of duplication of effort and unnecessary waste • NGOs – assess in maximising investment to get biggest “bang for buck” • Governments assist policy and investment decision making by adopting partnership working • Companies – identify skills, resources and investment opportunities • Health – identify issues, causes and solutions

  4. Trust – the key? • Sharing in theory would make the world a better place. • Sharing your communities information may seem like a sensible approach to Western Societies. Can it work in areas where wars and local disputes go back centuries? • There has to be carrot and stick approach. • Everyone is part of the problem and also part of the solution

  5. Summary • To implement innovative ideas is not easy. Everyone must be prepared to change the way things are done, working in partnership. • We all have to give a little so everyone can gain a lot.
