13. National Register nominations can be heard by the State Historical Resources Commission even if a private owner objects to the listing. It is possible for these properties to receive a determination of eligibility by the Keeper of the National Register in Washington, D.C.

14. What is a Historic District? A significant concentration, linkage, or continuity of sites, buildings, structures, or objects united historically or aesthetically by plan or physical development.

20. Common Misconceptions • Federal or state government assumes property rights in your building • Property value will go down. • You must open your property to the public.  • Large sums of money are available to assist owners and local agencies in rehabilitating National Register properties.
