  2. Model United Nations (MUN) Club Supervisor: Dania Masarwa

  3. What’s MUN? It is a “Fake” or “Model” version of the real United Nations in which students simulate the work done at the UN and discuss issues of global importance, trying to bring solutions to them. Students represent different nations, and defend their points of view in the discussions that take place.

  4. The MUN club helps students: • develop public speaking skills. • practice and learn leadership skills. • improve research and communication skills. • engage in aspects of conflict resolution, problem solving and team work. • debate current global issues and world problems. • learn about cultures and peoples of other nations

  6. Online Model United Nations Supervisor: Salam Keadan

  7. What’s O-MUN? • O-MUN is an online version of the MUN club which offers students to debate and practice debating skills and discuss world problems online. • The program provides students with the chance of traveling to MUN conferences abroad. • The program is supervised by a former Al-Qasemi and MUN club alumna – Salam Keadan. • Two students from the program were trained online and traveled to the Hague International conference in Doha, Qatar.   10. The Debate Program – 10th grade • In cooperation with Amal network, we offer tenth graders a Debating Program that includes a series of workshops facilitated by a native English Speaker. In those workshops students discuss controversial issues and prepare for a regional debate contest. 

  11. The program helps students develop logical and critical thinking, and improves students’ public speaking and overall English skills.

  13. Book Club – 10th grade In cooperation with Amal network, we offer tenth graders the opportunity to join a Book Club to encourage reading in English and promote reading for pleasure.

The Book Club • In the club students are partnered with another Jewish class and they engage in activities that help them see the connections between language, literature and culture, as well as develop critical thinking. • This program brings Arab and Jewish students together to share their perspectives and opinions on the same book.  • This program is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv.

  16. We offer ninth graders the chance to exchange letters and emails with pen pals from all over the world. In this project students engage in activities that foster cultural understanding and friendship. In addition they practice and improve their writing skills in English. Our partner classes come from Russia, Armenia, Romania and USA. In previous years, we had pen pals in Germany and India.

  18. Cross-Cultural Digital Magazine Supervisor: Dania Masarwa

A joint online project between Al-Qasemi School & Orosi School (Costa Rica) This project aims at creating a digital magazine that includes a wide range of topics all revolving around the themes of multiculturalism, by: connecting students from different cultural backgrounds together online and engaging them in activities that foster cultural understanding and friendship. developing students’ cultural sensitivity and awareness. improving students’ writing skills in English.
