Apart from basic salary, cadets are also entitled to various other kinds of allowances. These include risk allowance, subsistence allowance, uniform allowance and other kinds of lump sum payments. Additionally, they are also eligible for pensions, service rewards and gratuities. NDA cadets can also benefit from medical facilities, which O?er reimbursements and cover a wide range of problems, from minor illnesses to life-threatening diseases. NDA cadets can also expect to receive housing or a hire allowance, depending on their rank and other factors. Cadets receive a monthly stipend of Rs 56,100 during training at the IMA (starting pay at Level 10). The students during the training period at the NDA receive a stipend of Rs 15,600 per month. Allowances The NDA provides a number of allowances for its personnel in addition to the salary. These allowances are designed to ease the burden on the personnel and their families and make it easier for them to perform their duties. This allowance is available to students from grades Nursery up to 12. Hostel Subsidy For only the two eldest surviving children, the monthly pay is Rs. 6,750 per child (admissible from Nursery to class 12th). Ration in Kind Every month, all Defense o?cers in the Field Area and the Peace Area Allowances in the event of disability or death Cadets (Direct) and NoKs are eligible for monetary benefits in the event of invalidation on medical grounds/death due to causes related to or aggravated by military training: For the case of Disablement ?. A monthly ex-gratia payment of Rs. 9,000. ?. As an additional benefit, an ex-gratia disability award of Rs. 16200 will be paid per month in addition to 100% of disability during the period of disablement,
subject to proration if the degree of disablement is less than 100%. When the degree of disability is less than 20%, no disability award will be paid. ?. For 100% disabled, Constant Attendant Allowance (CCA) is provided at Rs 6750 per month on the recommendation of the Invaliding Medical Board (IBM). For the case of death ?. Approximately Rs. 12.5 lakhs is paid as an ex-gratia payment to the NoK. ?. The NoK is also entitled to receive Rs. 9000 per month in ex-gratia payments. ?. Cadets (Direct) / NoK are authorized to receive ex-gratia awards, and such awards may not be treated as pensions. However, on both monthly ex-gratia awards and ex-gratia disability awards, dearness relief will be applied at the applicable rates.
