PROJECT Basically we are using an innovative software called: GOOGLE EARTH Finding out more on: • Reasons of climate change all over the world • Impacts that climate changes has brought along • Solutions to solve the problems that climate change has caused
WHAT EXACTLY is GOOGLE EARTH? • It allows us to view any place on earth or space from a satellite view. • Show Terrains, Street Level Buildings, Rivers, Underwater World, Space, etc. Niagara Falls
USAGE OF GOOGLE EARTH • Use as a platform for delivering visually captivating and interactive application Through using of : • KML (Keyhole Markup Language) • Spreadsheet Mapper • Creating Tours • Placemarks
WHATIS CLIMATE CHANGE? DO YOU KNOW? The Earth's climate has changed many times during the planet's history, with events ranging from ice ages to long periods of warmth. Climate change can result from natural processes, factors and more recently due to human activities through emissions of greenhouse gases.
IMAGINE… Global Warming, one of the negative impacts that climate change has caused.
Earth'sspeciesareshrinking!!! • Climate change is causing Earth’s animals to shrink! • As temperatures rise, plants and animals the world over are adapting, some more quickly than others, by becoming smaller — a trend that scientists say could have serious implications for ecologicaldiversity. Wonder if humans shrink too…… *worries*
FACTORS causing CLIMATE CHANGE Warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat radiating from Earth toward space. Greenhouse Effect # CASE 2 # CASE 1 Carbon dioxide (CO2). is released through natural processes such as respiration and volcano eruptions and through human activities such as deforestation, land use changes, and burning fossil fuels. Methane. A hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice cultivation.

GREEN MOVEMENT INITIATIVES • GREEN BUILDING • Known as sustainable building • Designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health andthe natural environment by: · Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources · Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity · Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation

BEING GREEN • Eat Locally • As this decreases the demand for imported food • Saving fuel and reduces emission of carbon dioxide , required to import food from other countries. • Public Transport • Cuts down on CO2 emissions and the dependence on foreign oil • Saving up almost 4.2 billion gallons of gas and 37 million metric tons of CO2 annually! • Plus, households that use public transit save more than $8,000 a year.

MEASURES TAKEN IN SINGAPORE Increasing green cover in Singapore A clean and green environment is necessary to provide a good quality of life. Hence, from 1986 to 2007, the green cover in Singapore increased from 36% to 47% even though the population had increased by 68% during the period. Despite being a small country, there is green cover over almost 50% of the country. This includes nature reserves which house our native biodiversity, as well as an island-wide network of parks, park connectors, street-side and waterfront greenery. Punggol Waterway

INDIVIDUAL Recycling Save Water • Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators. • Conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals; • Prevents pollution caused by reducing the need to collect new raw materials • Saves energy • etc…. • Take short showers of 5-10 mins • Always remember to shut off the faucet water when you are brushing your teeth • Re-use water that is used to wash rice grains to water the plants.
SAVINGPOWER • Companies can install Solar Panelson the roofs (to provide energy to heat water or provide electricity) • Using energy-saving light bulbs like LED light bulbs instead of conventional light bulbs, as… • LEDs have a typical life span of about 30,000 hours, as opposed to the 750 hours that a traditional incandescent bulb will last. • Also, LEDs have greater efficiency as they produce light without heat, saving energy used to heat the filaments in incandescent light bulbs.
