Revolve • To move around another object by traveling a distance. • Example: Earth revolves around the sun.
Orbit • The path an object follows as it revolves around another object. Example: The Earth orbits the Sun.
Why does the Earth have Seasons? • Earth’s tilted axis makes the Earth tilt a little as it revolves around the sun. This causes the sun to reach different parts of the earth four times a year.
What causes the Earth to have Day and Night? • The rotation of the Earth on its axis causes the Earth to face toward the sun for 12 hours and away from the sun for another 12 hours. This gives us day and night.
