Italian Clubs of Alcoholics in TreatmentData Base 2006 The italian Club Data Base 2006 shows 496 youngsters aged ≥ 15 to ≤ 29 years attending regularly the Clubs. Out of those, 124 were attending a Club for their own problems, while 372 were attending as family members with a relative who had a problem.
Age distribution Young people below 20, having alcohol related problems, are not numerous in our Clubs. Attendance increases substantially from age 25 onwards.
Percentage between youngsters attending a Club for their own problems, and those attending as family members together with a relative who has a problem.
Type of population The young people attending our Clubs for their own problems are in majority boys (76%), while the majority of those attending as family members (together with a relative who has an alcohol problem) are girls (69%).

Pattern ofconsumptionbefore/afterattending a Club Alcohol consumption shows in both cases a progressive reduction, but surprisingly, the reduction is stronger among those affected by a problem of their own (-76%) than among the family members (-70%).
Satisfaction index Changing the life style: a self-evaluation questionnaire shows that about 55% of young members, regardless whether having their own problem or being family members, have declared a satisfaction index of 70% or more about their own change of life style.
Composite index If we put together those who achieve a good life style change (70% or more) and those who achieve sobriety (not drinking over the last 30 days), we can see that these objectives are reached by 67% of the youngsters family members and by 61% of the youngsters with alcohol problems. Not a big difference.
