Explain the effect of triangulation on the credibility/trustworthiness of qualitative research
What the heck is triangulation? • Collecting information through the use of different perspectives, methods and sources to check if the interpretation of data can be supported. • Don’t leave all your eggs in one basket!!! Explain the effect of triangulation on the credibility/trustworthiness of qualitative research
Method Triangulation • Comparing data that comes from different methods (interviews, focus groups and case studies). • Shows that the results are not due to just the choice of method. Explain the effect of triangulation on the credibility/trustworthiness of qualitative research
Researcher Triangulation • Comparing data from various observers, interviewers, or researchers. • Having more than one researcher increases inter-rater reliability. • If the results are consistent for all members of the team, it means it was not just from the view of one single observer. Explain the effect of triangulation on the credibility/trustworthiness of qualitative research
