EFFICIENT CAR PARKS FOR THE 21st CENTURY: OPTIMISING ELECTRICAL CONSUMPTION • Nigel Young – Business Development Director
What’s the Alternative ? LED Lighting instead of fluorescent: • The performance of LED lights over fluorescent or sodium is optimized by a factor of three. • LED lights offers the same lux levels with the consumption being 3 times lower than fluorescent • Lifetime of LED is Approx. 60000 hours a fluorescent being Approx. 3500 hours • Maintenance is also greatly reduced LED
What’s the Alternative ? Speed regulation for ventilation • Intelligent CO2 monitoring. • Software Controlled Extraction Systems – replacing Manual or scheduled by time systems
What’s the Alternative ? Bay Detection and Guidance • Reduced transit time to find a space, in turn reduces CO2 in car park • Better Customer Experience • Fully interfaced to the intelligent LED lighting system
What’s the Alternative ? EV Charging • Allow users to schedule recharging times to make best use of ‘off-peak’ electricity supply. • Manage the energy supply to prevent over run on circuit breakers. • Making it easy for users to pay for the energy used by KwH, credit, length of charge time etc.
Conclusions • The price of the electrical energy a fixed cost for the parking industry; and it is being increased every year • It’s estimate that the average of 80% of electricity consumption comes from lighting and ventilation extraction • We can be achieved reductions close to the 50% by the installation of several intelligent systems LED Lighting with regulation according to movement Gas detection extraction with speed regulation Parking guidance system • The energy savings obtained can be use to enhance electricity to the Electrical Vehicles • The efficient parking for the XXI century is not an option but a necessary reality
