  2. Contents • Meanings of Hajj and Umrah • Three major areas: Adaab (etiquettes) Muqaddimaat (pre-requisites): Manasik (acts of worship)

  3. Hajj • The word Hajj is used for many meanings. Among them is Qasd, Kaff • In Shariah, it means the collection of Aamal and Manasik a Haji performs during the days of Hajj (jawahir) • In Hadith of Imam Baqir (as): Hajja fulanun aiy aflaha fulanun

  4. Umrah • Lit. The parts of a building which are added later (after its completion) • Shariah: A collective name for all the Aamal which a Za’ir performs suring the days of Hajj before doing the acts of Hajj • Umrah Mufrada: Performed separately any time during the year

  5. Three major areas • Adaab (etiquettes) • Muqaddimaat (pre-requisites): • Manasik (acts of worship)

  6. Adaab-e-Hajj • (Self-building) Step 1: Repentance, abstinence from sins • (Self-building) Step 2: Maintain a high level of consciousness • Meeting the relatives

  7. Adaab-e-Hajj (contd.) • Ghusl, 2 rak’at Salat before departure • Do not depend on your money, belongings, strength, friends, youth,.. • Choose suitable companions, observe their rights (what kind of company?)

  8. Adaab-e-Hajj (contd.) • Be: respectful, tolerant, humbleness, helpful • Behavior with Sunnis, Wahabis

  9. Muqaddimaat (pre-requisites): • Taqleed • Halal income (money) for Hajj expenses • Khums payment • Islamic Will • Dues, debts to others • Radd-e-Mazalim

  10. Umrah Tamattu’ • Istita’ah (financial ability) • Ihram, Tawaf, 2 Rakat Salat, Sa’y, Taqseer • Differences between Umrah Tamatu’ and Umrah Mufradah
