  2. Hyperbole • Hyperbole is an exaggeration • He is so tall he could touch the sky. • The girl ran track so fast, she was a blur when she ran by me.

  3. Metaphor • A direct comparison (does not use like or as) • Margaret makes straight A’s. She is a book of knowledge.

  4. Simile • Comparing two or more objects using ‘like’ or ‘as’ • Brandon’s room is like a pig pen. • Amanda runs as fast as a cheetah.
