Monday , October 6 , 2014. The Mighty Band from Lion Land traveled to Troy University and Andalusia High School last weekend for band contest. Yes, that’s why they are called Mighty as they did 2 contests in one day!

The Mighty Band from Lion Land traveled to Troy University and Andalusia High School last weekend for band contest. Yes, that’s why they are called Mighty as they did 2 contests in one day! The band earned straight superior ratings in marching, performance drum majors, drum line, color guard, dance team and full band at both events.
The band also won “Best In Class” band, guard, drum major, drum line, color guard, dance teams, drum majors and band at the Andalusia contest and was also awarded the “Grand Champions” of the day scoring higher than any other band at the event. There were 21 bands from 3 states participating in the contest. If you would like to see the Mighty Band from Lion Land in action, come out to the band jamoree tonight in Spanish Fort. The jamboree begins at 6 pm. and our band performs at 8 pm.

Foley High School’s Blood Drive is coming soon! The Blood Drive is October 15 from 8 am to 2 pm in the training room. Students can sign up in homeroom or room 301. The requirements to donate are: • ALL STUDENTS THIS YEAR MUST HAVE A CONSENT FORM—pick them up in room 301. • Must have a photo ID.
All blood donors must signup by Friday. Everyone that donates will receive a free t-shirt. The two homerooms with the most community participation will receive a doughnut party. The individual donating must say they are donating for that homeroom when they register. Help give the gift of life—sign up today in Room 301.
Underclassmen make-up pictures and senior portrait make-ups will be taken on Friday. For the first time ever, the Foley High School Yearbook will be ALL color. Do not miss out on your opportunity to purchase your book. The books will be $55 until October 17. See Mrs. Styron in Room 803 to order yours.
Prom committee applications are available outside Mrs. Champion's room 406. These are due by Friday, October 17th.
The Peer Helpers will be sponsoring monthly Kona Ice on the first Tuesday of every month. This means their next stop at FHS is today! They will be in the canteen area from 12-3:30. You may come with your whole class and teacher or after school. As a reminder, this is not something you should leave class to get. We want to thank you in advance for your support and we'll see you out there this afternoon!
A new club on campus, VEX Robotics, will hold its first meeting on Wednesday immediately after school in room 905. Membership in the VEX Robotics Club is open to all students. Membership dues in the Vex Robotics Club are $5. The meeting will cover the next robot demonstrations, this year's VEX competition, and membership in Technology Student Association which is open to all students enrolled in an engineering or technology course. There is a mandatory Student Council meeting today after school at 3:10 in the library.
Spanish Club will hold its first meeting on Wednesday after school in room 902. This will be an important meeting as permission slips for the Mobile International Field Trip will be distributed and discussion of a few other important items will take place. Tshirts will be delivered later this week. Only paid members will receive a tshirt and a permission slip. If you have any questions see SeñoraMaurin or Señora Whetstone.
FFA will meet on Wednesday right after school in room 421. You do not have to be an FFA member to attend the meeting. FFA officers would love to see a huge turnout.
