  2. KBBE-2007-1-2-05: Novel forest tree breeding • New approaches of novel tree breeding • Database of forest inventories • advanced remote sensing research tools • testing of new tree species on existing experimental plots • analysis of physiologicalaspects and influence of this trees on environment.

  3. Proposal added value • enhancement of knowledge regarding forest ecosystems and risk factors in changing global and local conditions, • potentials of new tree species in European forestry and wood sector, • increasing most needed forest biomass • - stabilisation of wood-sector industry and its competitiveness

  4. Other fields of interests: • evaluation and comparing carbon mass cumulated in different parts of wood of tree species (roots!!!), in the soil and decompositionprocesses. • Short-term experts reports of impact of use of natural resources on biodiversity, evaluation of biodiversity loss • Unique biomonitoring (mites and nematods)

  5. Participation in national projects: 20 tree species incl. novel tree (physiology, biodiversity) 2003-2009 ~400 th€ Carbon 2007-2010 ~ 1,2 M€ Biodiversity 2000-2008 ~100 th€ Coordinator Prof. J. Oleksyn – co-author: Nature 439(7075): 457-461 Nature 428(6985): 821-827.
