Wayne Rooney (born October 24, 1985 in Liverpool, England) - English footballer, striker in Manchester United and English National Team. He debuted in in 2003. Together with his team he appeared at Euro 2004, where he became the youngest goal scorer and played in the World Championships in 2006.
Rooney began his career at Everton, which has undergone soccer school at the age of 10. In 2002 he made his debut in the first team of the club and became the youngest scorer in the Premier League goal. He quickly became a primary player of his club and spent there two seasons. Before the season 2004/2005 for the amount of 25.6 million pounds he transferred to the Manchester United, the club that was three times national champion, twice won the League Cup and the Champions League trophy.
After the European Championships Manchester United and Newcastle United began their efforts to buy Rooney. Transfer to the second club was already close to completion, but eventually the hour before the end of the transfer window he signed a contract with Manchester. Old Trafford club paid for him 27 million pounds, which is the highest amount ever spent on a teenager in the world and the third highest transfer in the history of Manchester United. More was paid for Dimitar Berbatov andRio Ferdinand.At the Euro 2004 Rooney suffered the injury which excluded him from game for a month. In the Champions League match against Fenerbahçe SK he scored a hat-trick and assist.
At the end of the 2005/2006 season in the 0-3 defeat against Chelsea Rooney suffered the injury of metatarsus, which was likely to exclude him from participation in the World Cup played in Germany, but rehabilitation enabled him to participate in this event. In 42 matches played Rooney scored 34 goals. Among them there are 26 league matches which gave him second place among the scorers, behind Didier Drogba. It is worth mentioning that in the match against Wigan Athletic (5-0), the Englishman scored his hundredth goal for Manchester United. Rooney had a chance to further inflate the statistics and reach for the crown of the king of shooters, but the injury gained in the match against Bayern Munich excluded him from playing up to the end of season.
