Strangers that children can ask for help when they need it • Police officers • Fire fighters • Teachers • Principals Who are safe strangers?
Stranger approaches your child in the park and ask for help finding their lost dog • Women in neighborhood your child has never met invites your child in for a snack • A stranger asks if your child needs a ride home from school • While your child is walking home from school, a car pulls over and asks your child for directions. Possible Scenarios
Know where your children are at all times. • Point out safe places • Teach children to trust their instincts • Teach your children to be assertive • Encourage your children to play with others What else parents or teachers can do
