  1. Houston Social Venture Partners A New Philanthropy Model For Houston Presentation to Potential Partners

  2. Creating a Legacy Through HSVP The Woodhill Foundation will create a new philanthropy legacy for Houston

  3. Houston Social Venture Partners (HSVP) • A new kind of giving • Connecting business with community • Following a capital investors model • Making a hands-on difference • Modeled after SVP-Seattle

  4. A New Kind of Giving • Business and Technology professionals are provided a way to invest their time, expertise and resources to address community problems in Houston. • The vision is to build a philanthropic organization using a venture capital model, where Partners invest in innovation, and then actively nurture their financial investments with guidance and resources. • HSVP gives professionals a way to engage in a new style of philanthropy that allows Partners to take an active role in their charitable giving.

  5. Connecting Business With Community • HSVP will be a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing root causes of community problems in Houston • Each partner commits to a minimum annual contribution (tax-deductible) of $6,000 for at least two years • Associates are volunteers who offer their time and expertise to HSVP and its Investee organizations without making a financial contribution

  6. Following a Capital Investors Model Using a venture capital model, the Partners provide financial support and business expertise to help nonprofit Investees develop more efficient, sustainable organizations. Support is usually continued over several years to build organizational capacity.

  7. Making a Hands-on Difference Partner hands-on involvement includes activities such as setting up a website or network, coordinating a special event, or designing a marketing brochure—to management support in the areas of finance, strategic planning, fundraising, legal, training, promotions, real estate and more. Although partners are not required to contribute time and expertise, it is encouraged.

  8. HSVP Proposed Start-up • The Woodhill Foundation will provide a major portion of the initial funding • Peter Schaeffer, Neon Systems, will be a major contributor of initial funding • Calene LeBeau will be the Executive Director for HSVP • HSVP immediate start-up on funding
