Lightning overview • UED models interesting properties • SM particles allowed to propagate in 4+ dimensions • Effective theory valid below cutoff ~20 - 50 TeV • Compactification length of EDR > 1/R and 1/R EW scale • SM field KK partner(a whole tower) • KK parity conservation renders LKP stableED momentum KK parity • Heavier modes cascade decay to the LKP by emitting relatively soft SM particles. • Extend to allow gravity spreading in 4+N dimensionsLKP SM partner + light graviton
Pythia implementation first order radiative corrections • Minimal formulation: SM particles in 4 + 1 space-time • Adjustable parameters, 1/Ror can fix 1 parameter and vary /R • Mass spectra given by • Only n=0 (SM) and n=1 are implemented • KK number conserved KK particles are always produced in pairs.
Previously • Pythia6 generator recently available for CMS • Newest version slightly modifiedA little of juggling was needed • Parameters were set correctly • Basic checks were runOverall cross sections • Cross section comparison CMSSW vs standalone PythiaLHC pp 14/10 TeV • Comparison between versions LHC pp 14/10 TeV and Tevatron scenario
Filters and Validation Software • Algorithms developed to evaluate whether the generated events are ok or not.Pt, invariant masses, angular distributions,… • Particular channels have to be filtered on the UED generator (SS dilepton, 4 leptons) • All CMSSW framework based. • Algorithms for background under developed.Caio, Cesar, Matheus, Tiago • At the end hope to have everything packed together.
Fast Simulation • Working with CMSSW_3_1_1 version. • UED particles unknown to the framework.Easy wrap to run FastSim on these events. • Full chain is complete. Trigger can be included. • Event objects availabe after reconstruction.Learning classes and methods via doxygen/workbook/tutorials • Allows systematics:alignment and calibrations
Right now… • Moving to a CMSSW newer version. • In addition, would like to use PAT. Total failure on 3_1_1. Not sure what was/is the issue • Pick a SS dilepton set with fixed and 1/R and carry on full simulation chain. • Same for background. • Continue with event analysis. • Once it is done repeat exercise for various 1/R. • Present it to Exotica group anytime in between.
We need: • Implement algorithm for signal selection and background rejection.Basic code already exists • Studies of background generationmustbe finished by next week. • Should get those through FastSim. • Will Caio, Cesar, Matheus e Tiago run FastSim???
