Facts about nut • Nut is the Egyptian sky goddess. • She is married to Geb, both the god of the earth and her own brother. • The ancient Egyptians believed that at night, Nut would eat the sun god, Ra, only for him to be born by her again the next morning. • Her body arched across the sky and the ancient Egyptians could see the stars, sun, and moon through her.

  3. More facts • Nut was the mother of Isis, Osiris, Nepthys, and Seth. • To some ancient Egyptians, Nut was interpreted as a cow, the stars being her calves. • Her name can be said Nut, Nuit, Newet, or Nueth. • Her sacred symbol is a ladder.

  4. Even more facts • Nut was the daughter of Shu and Tefnut. • Some things people called her were: Cover of the Sky, She Who Protects, Mistress of All, and She Who Holds a Thousand Souls. • At first, Nut was the goddess of just the nighttime sky. But then, she became ruler of all the sky.
