  1. Tudor crime and punishment Our enquiry project is on Tudor crime and punishment. we (Oscar and Edwin) have worked hard and learnt a lot that we didn’t know before. Did you know That if you spoke too freely you would be put a metal brank? It is a helmet with no metal bits apart from some strips to keep it on and a razor bit by the mouth so if you spoke your tongue would be cut off. Introduction Did you know One of the most painful tortures was for the foot? It would be put in a metal shoe and stuffed around your foot would be wood. Then water and oil would be added and then the whole thing would be put over a fire. The metal shoe would start to shrink and cause lots of pain. Maybe your foot would drop off and cause an infection.

  2. Tudor crime • There was lots of murder for wealth and money. • There was lots of robbing for food in the Tudor times. • In the Tudor times people would take children from the rich people and they would only give them back if they gave them lots of wealth. • In the Tudor times some people would hire assassins to get rid of someone they hated. • When they were at war with the Spanish if you were a Catholic you would be forced to give up your religion and if you refused you would be kept in your house and never to come out. If you were caught out of your home you would be hanged.

  3. Tudor punishments 7, executed 8, boiled in a pot until death 9, stretched 10, beaten 11, whipped 1, hanged 2, head chopped off 3, hand chopped off 4, crucified 5, burnt alive 6, poked with a hot spear

  4. Law and court In Tudor school if you made a mistake you would be beaten with a stick. The law in Tudor times it was very strict. If you did the slightest thing wrong you would get into trouble. The law was only for royal people like King Henry or a judge to choose what their punishment was.

  5. Prisons Tudor prisoners would usually say stuff like “It wasn’t my fault,” or “It was for my family,” but it never really worked. All they would do was kill them. That’s why the Tudors were brutal. Tudor prisons were different to today the ones we have are more up to date and much cleaner than the Tudor ones. Also Tudor prisons were very dirty and dusty.

  6. Punishments • If you committed treason against the king you would be hanged or quartered. • If you were caught for stealing your hands would be cut off. • Your head would be cut off if you murdered someone. • If you had been thought of as a witch you would be put in a chair. If you floated back up it would mean you were a witch so you would have to be put on fire. If you didn’t float you would have drowned.
