JIWG Action Items of Interest to IICWG • NIC-CIS have concluded an agreement for technology co-operation to facilitate closer development of ice chart production systems • Map Standards and Terminology sub-committee organized the ECDIS workshop held in June 2000 to seek input from government, industry and service providers concerning proposed ISO-57 ice extensions; more later in the agenda • Data Archive committee is to present to the next JIWG meeting, the NSIDC post-hoc quality control plan for operational data going into the climatological data bases • there is action required between several sub-committees to resolve differences in Great Lakes ice charts prepared by the NIC, the CIS and the Great Lakes Envrionmental Research Lan (NOAA); difference in coastlines and in data format must be resolved • Communications sub-committee is to proceed with a technical investigation of the Internet option for the North American Ice Link and recommend its suitability based on the status of the RadarSat IMOU, security issues, and operational requirements (i.e. through put) • NIC is to write a letter to notify CIS, USCG and CCG of the upcoming change in ice forecast service levels provided by the NWS Forecast Office in Cleveland. This letter will solicit requirements for the forecast products and will be used to determine level of support needed. • JIWG will support a Committee for Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) initative in disaster reduction through the establishment of an Ice Hazard group
