2012 College of Saint Benedict Marie and Robert Jackson Fellows ProgramCollin Motschke • Internship Projects: • Fruits of the City-a community-lead initiative that aims to collect fresh fruits that would otherwise go to waste and redistribute it to those in need • The Garden Gleaning Project-a program that facilitates the harvesting and redistribution of fresh produce from private and community gardeners for use at local food shelves • Mission: • To champion the sustainable production and equitable distribution of energy and food in communities across Minnesota • Intern Responsibilities: • Facilitate and enable partnerships between produce growers and local food shelves • Support community and home gardeners by helping them plant vegetables • Monitor the status and ripeness of produce • Organize produce-gleaning events • Educate gardeners and orchard owners about effective growing methods • Assist with data management • Promote Fruits of the City and The Garden Gleaning Project by utilizing multiple means of social media
