COMPONENTS OF SOCCER • FITNESS • START NOW INDIVIDUALLY OR WITH FRIENDS • AEROBIC TRAINING/ENDURANCE (6 MILES) • ANAEROBIC • PLAYING THE GAME • JANUARY 7-17 WILL BE INTENSE, BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON • FITNESS WILL CONTINUE THROUGHT HE SEASON AS NEEDED • STAY HEALTHY • TACTICS AND STRATEGY • TECHNIQUE • PSYCHOLOGY

Conditioning and Tryouts • FITNESS • Conditioning: Everyday January 7-17 after school (soccer specific) • You must be fit already (endurance) • Everyone must pass all fitness tests to play. • Distance test (3 miles approximate) • Varsity: 25 minutes max • JV: 29 minutes max • 120s x 8 • Varsity: within 18 sec each, 1 minute rest • JV: within 20 sec each, 1 minute rest • Cooper Test/12 minutes • Varsity: 9 laps minimum • JV: 8 laps minimum • PLAYING ABILITY: TUESDAY JAN 21-22 • Technique and tactical awareness • Fitness • Psychology • TEAM ANNOUNCED: Thursday Jan 23 • All fitness tests must have been passed to play

Attendance Policy • Each day we practice we are training for the next game • Absences to practice will result in loss of playing time in the next non-region game • The amount of playing time will be determined by the player’s usual playing time and the number of absences before each match (starter vs. non-starter)

  11. Other • Grades and discipline will be monitored • Becoming a College Athlete: • NCAA Clearing house application completed and a fee of $50.00 (?) • All seniors wanting to play college sports must complete this process. • Also please let me know if you need me to contact any college coaches.

  12. Winter Break • February 13: Home vs. Rome • Plan accordingly

Parent Involvement: A Must for a Successful Season • Concessions manager and workers for Varsity and JV • Other help needed: Participating in team fundraising events, videotaping varsity and JV games, announcers and clock workers, field set up, etc. • Parent meeting: Thursday January 30 at 6:15 in the media center • Field work day: Saturday February 1 at 10:00

  14. Participation Fee$500 PER PLAYER • ALL SPORTS MUST PAY THEIR WAY. • WE NEED HALF OF THE FEE BY DECEMBER 2. PAY BY… • Writing one big check, and/or… (Refundable) • Participating in the payment plan, and/or… (Refundable) • Participating in traditional fundraising • Profits from what you sell go toward your dues. • Participating in fundraising does not guarantee a spot in the team. • BALANCE STATEMENTS WILL BE GIVEN OUT MONDAY FEBRUARY 3. THE ENTIRE FEE MUST BE PAID BY TUESDAY FEBRUARY 4. EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED TO PLAYERS WITH A BALANCE. • THE PARTICIPATION FEE MAY BE LOWERED BASED ON TEAM AND COACH’S FUNDRAISING EFFORTS (I.E SOCCER CAMP) • THE PARTICIPATION FEE IS NOT AN EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORM FEE. ALL EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS BELONG TO THE AHS SOCCER TEAM. • A replacement fee will be assessed for uniforms and equipment not returned at the end of the season.

Current Fundraising • To lower team goal and have a lower player fee: • Coaches’ sales (Magnets, t-shirts, advertising, etc.) • Soccer camp (Saturday February 8) • Shoe drive • Uniform and equipment donations • Directly to your fees: • T-shirts you sold • Fun Run • Advertising (Stadium banners, Scoreboard, Website) • Restaurant cards (Railey) • Other (Railey and Hat Trick Club)

  17. Fun Run: Cougar Crazy Mad Dash • Saturday November 2: Set up 2:00-5:00 pm • Sunday November 3: Race and clean up 1:00-6:00 • We need you or one of your parents here on one of the days, especially returning players. • Wear a cougar soccer shirt. • Bring drinks and candy • There will be a sign-in and sign-out sheet to keep up with your participation

Dates to Remember • Nov 2 at 2:00 : Fun Run set up • Nov 3 at 1:00: Fun Run • Nov 4-Dec 20: Individual/Group conditioning • Dec 2: $240 due (1/2 fee) • Jan 7: Team conditioning begins (eligibility and physical exam) • Jan 21-22: First practice with the ball • Jan 23: Teams announced • Jan 30 at 6:15: Parent meeting • Feb 1 at 10:00: Field work day (Set up goals and paint field) • Feb 3: Balance statements distributed • Feb 4: Remaining fee due • Feb 6: Uniforms distributed (you must have paid) • Feb 7: Scrimmage @ Hilgrove • Feb 11: First game vs. Villa Rica • Feb 8: Soccer Camp • Feb 13: Winter Break game *Other dates will be announced as the information becomes available
