ENGLISH 11A OVERVIEW • World Literature – drama, poetry, epic, short story • Focus on reading different genres, different perspectives, making inferences, connecting ideas, honing reading skills. • 4 Grammar Units • Focus on sentence errors, punctuation, agreement, case, modifiers, parallelism, and voice. Career and College Readiness skills. Grammar packets • Vocabulary – in context of literature • Writing – 1 formal essays, numerous informal and timed writings • Emphasis on development, focus, critical thinking • 6 point rubric for timed writings • Formal research paper – complete writing process – submitted to Turnitin.com

  6. Beginning of Class(prior to tardy bell) • C – Conversation: Make your way to seat; may talk quietly to others; voice level 1 • H – Help: Avoid asking questions during this time. If absent yesterday, check with your table partner or check the back table. • A – Activity: Once entering room, get prepared by getting out necessary materials, sharpening pencil, etc. Read over the agenda. When bell rings, be ready to complete warm-up. • M – Movement: When bell rings, please be seated. • P – Participation: Actively prepare for class to begin by working on warm-up. • S – Success: You will be ready to learn!
