Duties • Greeting customers. • Offering merchandise information, prices, availability of merchandise and help. • Making a sale of products. • Maintaining the overall image of the store. • Creating a bond with new and existing customers. • Maintaining communication with managers and co workers. • Following orders and company procedures.

  3. Abilities & Qualities • Multitasking • Good memory • Basic math skills • Outgoing • Persuasive • Friendly • Helpful • Good at following directions • Constant walking/movement • Great communicator • Motivated

  4. Education • High school diploma • Some retailers require for an employee to be at least 18 years of age -i.e. Forever 21 • Experience in this field is a bit higher thought of than actual education. • If pursuing only a sales position, a higher level of education is preferred but not expected.

  5. Location and Availability • Higher sales seasons begin around October and end in January • Malls are the main opportunity area as well as shopping centers • Positions are not always open but in most places applications are accepted 100% of the time • Most jobs begin in part time and can turn into full time

  6. Salary • Most entry level start off minimum wage • Higher end stores work mainly on commission -4% to about 10% • Opportunity for raises upon annual reviews • Pay varies from 8 to 12 dollars/hr.
