BioniCAM Final ProjectKristine SwensonCassandra JohannsBrianna Schroder For our final project we decided to use a new technology called the “BioniCAM.” This device takes pictures of objects anywhere from 100 to 400 times zoom. We took pictures of everyday objects one could find in the courtyard, and will have the students guess what the close up image is before comparing it to the real picture of each item.
Crap Apple Tree Flower Apple trees are small, typically 4-12 meters tall at maturity, with a dense, twiggy crown. The leaves are 3-10 cm. long. The flowers have 5 peddles, and are usually white, pink, or red. They show up in the spring after 50-80 growing degree days.
Grass Grass is a herbaceous plant with narrow leaves growing from the base. There are many different kinds of grass. Vigorous, course grasses are planted where there is going to be a lot of activities, and finer softer grass is used more for ornamental reasons. Seeds can be mixed to get different textures.
Sand Sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. Sand participles range in diameter from .0625-2 mm. An individual particle in this range size is called a sand grain.
Feather Feathers are one of the epidermal growth that form the distinctive outer covering of birds. They are considered the most complex integumentary structures found in vertebras. There are among the outstanding characteristics that distinguish the bird from other living groups.
Bike Tire A tire is a ring-shaped covering that fits around a wheel rim to protect it and enable better performance by providing a flexible cushion that absorbs shock while keeping the wheel in close contact with the ground. The tread on the tires gives the bike more traction with the road to prevent slipping.
Brick A brick is a block of ceramic material used in masonry construction, usually placed using multar. Multar is a workable paste used to bind the construction blocks together and bind the space between them.
Bark Bark is the outermost layer of stems and roots of woody plants. It overlay the wood and consists of inner and outer bark. The outer bark consists of the dead tissue on the surface of the stems. Humans use bark for different products such as spices, resin, medicines, and cork.
Shrubs Its usually less that 5-6 m. tall. Shrubs usually have a dense foliage, and many small leafy branches growing together. Its distinguish from a tree from its multiple stems and lower height.
Skin Skin is the outer covering of the body. In humans it’s the larges organ, and is made up of multiple layers of tissue. It guards underlying muscles, bones, ligaments, and internal organs. There are 2 types of skin: hairy and glabrous skin.
Our Findings! After using the BioniCAM, we decided that we liked the idea if this technology, but the actual using of the technology was confusing. We tried using it to capture a picture of a bug, but the bug kept moving so we couldn’t get it in focus. Because of this, we moved to plants and immobile objects. The technology was great for that once we were able to get the image in focus.
