State Nickname • The Peach State • Georgia grows peaches that are recognized for their highest quality. • Peaches became the official state fruit in 1995. • Peaches are great made into a dessert or eaten alone! • You should try peach cobbler with ice cream. Leana & Aliyah
Statehood This state became the fourth state in the United States on Jan. 2, 1788. The Governor of our state is Governor Sonny Perdue. Luke & Juan

Many of the state parks celebrate Georgia’s wildflowers by “showing them off” each Spring. • Animal Life • The black bear, squirrels, gray fox, red fox, white tailed deer, alligators, sea turtles, and the bobcat are very popular wildlife in Georgia. Places to Visit Oatland Island is a fun place to visit in Georgia! We went there on a field trip. Oatland island is a fun way to learn. There are animals there. There is a picture plant there. We saw a baby alligator, an owl and lots of other cool animals! On Sundays there is a farm there. That was our Oatland island adventure! Tianna T. & Celia
