  2. POPULAR CULTURE MEDIA PRESENTATION ASSIGNMENT This assignment allows you to examine popular culture as the pulse of a generation or time period. You (and up to two other students) will research a time period and present your findings to the class. The purpose of the assignment is to teach the class about what was popular during your assigned decade and to offer analysis regarding what these items reveal about the values, attitudes and beliefs of the time. You will introduce your decade and offer some analysis regarding social norms and values.

  3. CategoriesYou will divide your research into the following categories: Celebrities (5) Icons (3) Slang (2) Fads (2) Fashion (3) Music (2) Technology (2)

  4. Visual Component You must present your findings in PowerPoint or Windows Movie Maker (or equivalent) format. Your presentation must depict examples of popular culture from your assigned decade and include all of the categories listed above.

  5. Visual Component Each member of the team must have their full name on the slides they produce or on the title slide for the section(s) they produce. (In the bottom right corner 8pt font is sufficient) Ima Student

  6. Written Component Each member of your group will choose one item from your research and write a paragraph introducing the significance of the item and what this item reveals about the time period. Each written assignment must be no more than one page in length.

  7. Evaluation Your presentation will be evaluated based on the rubric provided. Each member will be assessed an individual participation mark in addition to the group assignment mark.
