IPC Workers: Summary • Started in July 2010 as a pilot up to Dec 2010 • 44 IPC Workers (volunteers) were engaged - 4 per region in 10 regions. • February 2011 strategy for expansion started • Tailored TOT for RH Promoters done - March 2011 • A tailored curriculum for the IPC Workers developed • Training of 135 IPC Workers from 10 regions done - May/ June 2011. • Implementation of the second phase of IPC work started- July 2011.
Responsibilities of IPCW • To provide information and usage of family planning methods especially IUDs • To educate about mother and child health specially reproductive health • To educate about the HIV transmission and Prevention • Encourage dialogue between husband and wife to adopt FP method
Responsibilities of IPCW cont….. • Stay in touch with the facility and the provider to ensure smooth delivery of FP services to the client • Refer client to the facility for FP services • Follow up visits to clients who are interested with FP method especially IUCD.
IPC Workers – Activities • Orientation Meetings (OM) • Meetings with Male and female influencers in community. • Household Visits (HHV) • One on one education with target and influencer females in homes • Neighbourhood Meetings (NM) • Small group discussions at volunteer homes • In-Clinic counselling • Small group/Individual education at the health facilities
Work plan • Must be prepared for the following month by 25th • Must be submitted to RH Promoter at regional level, • Work plan must mention the areas of working • All the activities conducted on daily basis must be entered directly on activity form • Activity forms must be compiled and handed to RH Promoter on weekly basis
Tools for the IPCW • Educational Flipchart • Method Briefcase • Document bag • Kangas/Tshirts for wearing- Uniforms • Brochures • MIS forms for reporting • NM reports • HHV reports • MIS for in clinic activity • OM reports • Training handout and Modules (Checklists) • Referral cards • 2 promo items for gifts to the host of the NM ( Kanga,T-shirts, pen)
House Hold Visit Form • Must be filled, on daily basis during the visit • Each form is compiled by end of the day giving detailed output • of the day. • Only those visits, where the Target audience is present and has taken the referral card or has clearly committed to visit facility will be entered • All the data will be submitted to RH Promoter by the end of • the week or mid week • RM is responsible to ensure that data is entered in MIS on • weekly basis • All the data entered in activity form must be 100% actual and • authentic. RH Promoter and Coordinator will take the • responsibility
Orientation Meeting Form • Must be filled on the day of activity • All the data will be submitted to RH Promoter by the end of the week or mid week • RM is responsible to ensure that data must be entered in MIS on weekly basis • All the data entered in activity form must be 100% actual and authentic. RH coordinator and RM will take the responsibility
Neighborhood Meeting Form • Must be filled on daily basis immediately after the activity • Each form will be separately and directly entered in MIS • Only Target audience who has either taken the referral card or has clearly committed to visit facility will be entered • All the data will be submitted to RH Promoter by the end of the weekend or on office day • RM is responsible to ensure that data is entered in MIS on weekly basis • All the data entered in activity form must be 100% actual and authentic. RH coordinator and RM will take the responsibility
Facility Output Form • This form measures the performance of any PSI trained facility • Must be filled / updated by FOW (Female Outreach Worker) / Promoter on weekly basis or every time she visit the facility • Must contain the information regarding clients who has visited the facility for FP Adoption • Each form (for the whole month performance) must be separately and directly entered in MIS • Form will automatically generate one month Facility Performance report by the closing of the month • All the data will be submitted to RH Promoter by the end of the week or mid week • Data must be entered in MIS by the end of the month • RM is responsible to ensure that data is entered in MIS • All the data entered in activity form must be 100% actual and authentic. RH coordinator and RM will take the responsibility
Supervisory Support System Form (SSS Form) • Must be filled by all supervisors during all visits • The form must be filled immediately after the activity • After filling; the form must be shared with the IPC worker • Corrective action and coaching must be provided at the same time as well as plan for long term • Each form will be separately and directly entered in MIS • Output of the form can be used as part of incentive plan (in future) • RM is responsible to ensure that data is entered in MIS • All the data entered must be 100% actual and authentic.
