Objectives • Be able to define leadership and followership. • Define the relationship between leader and a follower. • Know the three types of leaderships. • Know and identify the types of discipline and two ways instill discipline. • Two types of communications and examples of each. • Identify and define two types of courage.

Indicators of Leadership Indicators of leadership will point out whether or not a group, unit, or section, has either good or bad leadership. 4 Types • Moral: Attitude (good or bad) • Proficiency: The Quality of work or performance • Discipline: Control or orderly behavior • Esprit ‘de Corps: Literally – the spirit of the core or heart!

  8. 3 Styles STYLES OF LEADERSHIP • Authoritative– Told what to do, how to do, without asking others. • Delegative –Assign a specific task to a specific individual. • The leader that assigned the task is still accountable for the outcome. • Participative – Involves ideas and advice of others. • Allowing the group or unit to have a say in the decision making progress is good for morale.
