  2. Science and Technology • Have always gone hand and hand. • As technology increases so does science. • Telescope allowed scientist to see new planets. • Microscope allowed scientist to see bacteria. • SEM allows scientist to see viruses

  3. From the Lab to the Classroom • In science, some of the best learning comes from hands on experiences. • This being said, not all schools can afford expensive science equipment. • So what is the answer? • Using a cheaper more cost effective technology. • This technology is the COMPUTER.

The Computer in the Classroom • Having a computer in the science classroom allows teachers to: • Do online experiments. • Virtual Dissections • Do scientific investigations. • Crime Scene or Accident scene investigation • Play instructional Videos. • Show examples of different physical events. • Use new technology that scientist all over the world are using. • Microsoft excel programs to create graphs

  5. Virtual Dissections • These save the school money. (No supplies to buy) • Allow all students to perform the task • Owl Pellet Dissection • Cow Eye Dissection • Sheep Brain Dissection

  6. Scientific Investigations • Are scientific based web quests. • Some send students on a search through different sites while others have all the information on them. • Sites can look like a video game. • Crime Scene Investigation

  7. Scientific Investigation • Some resources can allow students to perform activities that inspire them for the future. • These links allow students to perform surgery just like a surgeon would do. • Heart Surgery • Hip Replacement Surgery • Brain Surgery

  8. Instructional Videos • Videos can be played in the classroom to help show complicated ideas. • Also research that takes years to do can be shown in a short time frame in the classroom. • Static Charge Video

  9. Classroom Technology • Students can learn how to present their experimental findings through the use of: • PowerPoint • Microsoft Excel • Creating Graphs of their Data
