  3. NIEUWE HAVEN TERMINAL Thhe Nieuwe Haven Terminal is a multi purpose port were more than 90 % of the imports goes through, except oil and cement, wheat and from Suralco and Gross Rosbel All exports except bauxite and bauxitederivative, gold and crude oil products 3 N.V. HAVENBEHEER SURINAME

NIEUWE HAVEN Captive Port: In the first place for national use Some of it in transit to Guyana, French Guyana with the opportunity to serve Physical limitations: Draft and Tide Quay lenght – 520 meters, draft 6.90 meters Dredge Project Deepening Suriname river and the effects for the Nieuwe Haven Terminal 4 N.V.   5. N.V. HAVENBEHEER SURINAME The Nieuwe Haven Terminal was build at the end of the sixties, with donations of the European Unioin and a loan of the European Development Fund. This loan was paid by the N.V. Havenbeheer Suriname. The terminal is build on approximately 60 acres. There are sheds which is rented and the land for storage of goods. There is a plan to change the port management structure. All the facilities are ISPS certified. The building of the port at the end of the sixties. N.V. HAVENBEHEER SURINAME

  6. PURPOSE The most important purpose of the port is to manage, exploit and the development of the dry infra- and superstructure in the area in the Republic of Suriname. The company manage the Nieuwe Haven Terminal in Paramaribo and the Port of Nieuw Nickerie in the district of Nickerie. 6 N.V. HAVENBEHEER SURINAME

MISSION STATEMENT TO BE A USER ORIENTED, EFFICIENT AND SAFE PORT, THAT IS COMMERCIALLY AND FINANCIALLY HEALTHY TO SECURE MAINTENANCE, DEVELOPMENT AND CONTINUITY AND DELIVERS SERVICES OF TOP QUALITY AIMED AT MEETING THE EVER INCREASING DEMAND OF SHIPPING COMPANIES AND AGENCIES, OF STEADY AND CONTINUOUS FLOWS OF CARGO, ADEQUATELY USING HUMAN RESOURCES AND WITH RESPECT OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND THAT IS IN FULL SERVICE OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT OF SURINAME. 7 N.V.   20. MAJOR PROJECTS? • Rehabilitation of the port which will start in February 2007. The estimated cost is Euro 40 million. • Technical assistance program with the Port of Amsterdam. The budget cost is Euro 800.000,- • Rehabilitation of the Port of Nickerie which is planned for 2007/ 2008. The estimated cost is US $11 Million. • Dredging: feasibility study started in June 2006 and will finish in March 2007. The estimated cost is US $ 1 million. • Pre feasibility study for the development of an Export processing zone in the port area, will be conducted in 2007/2008. 20 N.V. HAVENBEHEER SURINAME
