About DSP&S At MT.Sac • Historic Perspectives • Prior to the mid-1970s, the Counseling Department attempted to serve and accommodate the small number of identified students with disability conditions. • The year of 1979-80 marked a significant change in the program. • In 1986, the department of rehabilitation award the college a grant to develop a career placement component, Workability III. • In 1987, the department changed its name from “Handicapped Students Services” to “Disabled Student Programs & Services.”
