Summary of main results • EU-networking project is focussing trans-national cooperation and exchange at company and sector level • Builds upon already existing cooperation of trade unions and works councils in the agricultural machinery sector in Germany/Austria • Important role of trade union partners (in particular IG Metall) and external support (web-site, communication and coordination of activities) • Strong focus on getting to know each other, trust building and communication • Language a major problem – English still not a common working language • Adjustment of project activities necessary: integrating more partners, bi-lateral country visits etc. • EU-funding played an initiating and enabling role: follow-up activities are planned

Project aims • Exchange of experience: improving the joint knowledge on the situation of employee interest representation and trade union practice in European agricultural engineering • Analyses: Improving the knowledge about the situation of agricultural machinery throughout Europe and elaboration of a „European Map Agricultural Engineering“ (sector study) • Networking and mutual support: Launch of a continuous exchange of information and joint resources • Web-site • European mapping of agricultural machninery • Preparation of company profiles and data-sheets • Networking of trade unions and employee representatives at company level • Country visits, company based exchange and international meetings • Industrial policy at the sector level: Identification of issues and problems of common interest

Overview of project activities Between August 2007 and September 2008 the following main activities have been carried out : • Meetings, country visits and workshops • Regular project meetings • International workshop in Vienna in cooperation with gmtn with 20 participants • Country visits of company representatives in Hungary and Poland • International conference in Frankfurt a.M. with 40 participants • “European Map of agricultural engineering” • Continuous work on the web-site • Elaboration of the European Map, available on the web and as a CD-ROM) • Data-sheets and company profiles • Supported and implemented by Wilke, Maack and Partner • Industrial policy - joint platform • “Joint Statement of Frankfurt”
