  1. For the infant activity I introduced a scarf box that had different color scarves in it. The children were introduced to the box and able to touch and feel the scarves. Sebastian (18months), Gabriel (15 months) and Liam (14 months) watch as the scarves are dropped from above. Amari (5 months) grasped some the scarves as she felt the softness of them. Foundation SC.1.3 Interact with and explore a variety of objects, books, and materials. How We Get Places Dramatic Play Kristin Baruzzini Ball State University Circle Classroom Spring 2014 March 3-7-14 For How we get places week. The developmental objects were to get the children to move around the room. At whatever stage that was developmentally appropriate for each child. Whether that be walking, crawling, or scooting. Circle Time focused on things that an infant or toddler could do at the developmental levels in my classroom. The books also focused on things that the children in the classroom were interested in. Isaac (10 months), Grant (10 months), Gabriel (15 months), and Sebastian (18 months all engaged in circle time as I read books like Animal Fun Toddlerobics, The Baby Dances, and Trucks, Trucks, Trucks. We also sang the Welcome song welcoming each child into the classroom. And the song of the week was Down By the Station Foundations SE.6.5. Actively attend to things an adult is showing. Infant Activity For Dramatic play I designed cars out of boxes for the children to push and pull. A string was attached to one end to make it easier for the children to pull. Berenger (23months) is sitting in one the box cars I designed. Through this activity the children learned how to push and pull the boxes (cars) around. Foundations P.1.5 Explore objects, people, and things, by kicking, reaching, grasping, and pulling. Circle Time Gross Motor Discovery Table For the discovery table I put plastic balls in the table assuming that the children would take or throw them out and would have to crawl and explore to find the balls. I wanted the children to explore by crawling and looking under things to find the balls. Foundations SS.3.45 Explore things with their mouth, hands, fingers, and toes. Gross motor was designed around the children in my classroom. I designed an obstacle course that all the children could explore. I used the climbing toy and brought out a tunnel that the children could explore. Grant (10 months) and Isaac (10 months) explored the climbing toy and the tunnel. Art Art was designed so the children could do things that were developmentally appropriate for the children in my classroom. The children were able to walk or crawl over a piece of butcher paper that was folded over spreading the paint around. They then used paint rollers to make yellow lines on the paper using fine motor skills. They also used footprints after playing outside to walk over the paper and to finish the art the children used cars to make wheel prints the children used gross motor skills and fine motor skills doing these art project. Maggie (30 months) and Tudor (15 months) are both creating wheel prints and using their fine motor skills. Foundations FA.1.88 Demonstrate increasing skill in using different art materials, (e.g., paper, paint, clay, scraps, buttons).
