New Partnership Great for Great for Careers Service AGLC - Extends our reach to- Emphasises AGLC students as a central hub for - Interactive teaching space skills support - Knowledge & cross promotion Working in collaboration
Open Training Workshops • ‘Preparing for your Career’ • CVs & Applications, Interviews, Psychometric tests, Assessment Centres • Small group work, use of TurningPoint technology, laptops, video etc. • ‘Getting Started..’ • Facilitative, group guidance • MBTI - individual Laptops
Statistics 2013/14 • Open Training Workshops • Delivered 23 sessions, 314 students attended • Focused mainly in October and February • 100% of participants found the workshops ‘extremely useful’ or ‘somewhat useful’ • 100% of participants rated the structure, facilitator and content as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’
Drop-In Career Sessions • New initiative 2013/14 • Opportunity for students to ‘drop-in’ and ask questions about anything careers related! • 2 hour sessions, 2 consultants available, 1 AGLC support • Huge success • Informal & approachable, In ‘their’ space, well promoted, timing of drop-in • 15 sessions, 49 students
What’s Worked • Working in familiar student space increases student engagement • Flexibility and support from AGLC team to enhance our work • Effective marketing • Media screens, tannoys, banners, café toblerones • Opportunity for cross promotion • Cross promote workshops on MLE and CareersLink • My FutureFest
Opportunities • Train Student Rovers to advise and signpost students • Increase the number and variety of sessions • Use of space in entrance foyer and Café • Develop online resources – My Learning Essentials • Achieve HEAR accreditation
